On My Wishlist (#10)

On My Wishlist is a bookish meme hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where you list all the books you desperately want but haven't actually bought yet.
So, here's what I've on my wishlist today:
Water For ElephantsThe Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Kindle Edition
Released: April, 20o6
Kindle Edition: March, 2011
"As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival."
Why this book is in my wishlist?
Well, I watched the movie trailer a couple of days ago and it looked like a great movie. So I thought I should look for the book too.
Release Date: September, 2010
"Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can. She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is. She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong."

Teaser Tuesday (#7)

Hiya! I have been ignoring Tuesday memes for about a month. I was too slow reading my books.
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should by Reading. I feel so shamed I haven't finished Northlight by Deborah J Ross. But there are some new books in my pile too.

NorthlightThe Lonesome Gods    Death After Midnight (The Jaared Sen Quartet)

"The smile in her rainwater eyes, the slow turning of her head. Away from me, always away from me and toward the twist of sunlight. Never looking directly at it, but drawn, as if it pulled her someplace I couldn't follow."
~ p.252, "Northlight" by Deborah J Ross (Deborah Wheeler)

"Lying awake in the dark, I thought of that lost ship, trapped in an inland sea from which it could not escape, sailing around and around forever until someday it ran aground and could sail no more. I dreamed of finding that ship and going aboard and finding chests of gold and chests of pearl."
~ p.61, "The Lonesome Gods" by Louis L'Amour

"She was slender, graceful as a willow, and beautiful. This was Meghan... and I was in love."
~ p.147, "The Lonesome Gods" by Louis L'Amour

Paulette looked back over her shoulder and frowned at him. Her pretty young face belied the ancient knowledge in her eyes. Dont be silly, Emile. Do not go back today.

Anyone can play along Teaser Tuesday! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

In My Mailbox (#8)

My currently reading pile is getting heavier and heavier but I didn't mind adding one more book.
In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by The Story SirenIn this feature you can post about books you've bought, gotten from the library, received for review... books don't have to arrive via your actual mailbox.

Borrowed:
This week I borrowed from library The Lonesome Gods by Louise L'Amour. I'm reading this author for the first time. The book cover reminded me of Indiana Jones and I was tempted to read the book. This book is an adventure novel and a historical fiction.

Here, have a good look at the different covers of the book: (All from Goodreads)

On My Wishlist (#9)

On My Wishlist is a bookish meme hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where you list all the books you desperately want but haven't actually bought yet.
So, here's what I've on my wishlist today:
Juliet ImmortalThe Girl Who Chased the Moon: A NovelGarden Spells (Bantam Discovery)
Release Date: September, 2011
Goodreads:
"The most tragic love story in history . . .
Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love."
Released: March 2010
"How tall is he?" she asked, her voice hushed, as if he might hear. "Tall enough to see into tomorrow."--Chapter Two, The Girl Who Chased the Moon
From the author's website:
"Emily Benedict is about to find out if wallpaper can change pattern on its own, if a cake can bring back a lost love and if there really is a ghost dancing in her backyard."
I read Bonnie's review of the book and loved it so much that I had to add it in my wishlist.

Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
Released: August 2007
From the author's website:
"Claire has everything she thinks she needs, until one day she wakes to find a stranger has moved in next door and vine of ivy has crept into her garden... and her carefully tended life is about to run gloriously out of control."
I came across this book when I went on surfing the author's website looking for another book, The Girl Who Chased the Moon. I  haven't read any of Sarah Addison Allen's books but I more than eager to try.
