Teaser Tuesday (#4)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should by Reading. As I promised last week, my Teaser is again from Northlight by Deborah J Ross (writing as Deborah Wheeler). I'm loving Northlight so much that I want to pick all Teasers from this book. But, of course, I don't want to disappoint some of you (who may have become sick with Northlight teasers by now), so I'm posting another teaser from Any Witch Way by Annastaysia Salvage.
NorthlightAny Witch Way

"He blinked and saw her again, one image overlaid on the next, past, present and future blurring together. Again she stood on a dais, again bare-headed, but now in sunshine so clear and bright it turned her hair to silver-white."

~ p.64 , "Northlight" by Deborah J Ross (Deborah Wheeler)

"She was up and out the window as the pounding started on the bedroom door. She ran blindly into the night, into the forest, and for once she was not afraid of where she was going, but what she was leaving."

~ p.57, "Any Witch Way" by Annastaysia Salvage

Anyone can play along Teaser Tuesday! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Fun Monday -- Mama Said... Father Knows Best

Happy Fun Monday!
Fun Monday is hosted by Georgia Girls of In Good Company.
First of all, I'm really sorry I wasn't available last Monday. My absence was partly because I had problem with my internet connection and partly because I was stuck in an exam. I have two more to go on Wednesday, but I saved my FM post in drafts sharp by Saturday. So here it goes,

Today's topic is:
Mama Said... Father Knows Best

Mar 7What is some advice your mother or father gave you that you remember and/or still use to this day?
"We have two ears to hear and one mouth to speak"
Something I could never bring into practice. I was way talkative until my teens but then tried to control my habit. Result: Either I never talk with anyone, or (if I do speak) I babble on and on...

In My Mailbox (#4)

Sunday is a perfect day to look into your mailbox and share your books with others. In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by The Story SirenIn this feature you can post about books you've bought, gotten from the library, received for review... books don't have to arrive via your actual mailbox.

Won:
Earlier this week, Jenai (Bookingly Yours) sent me an e-book copy of Petchy Maligula by Stan Carter. Thank you very much Jenai, for hosting the giveaway and sending the book. I really like the cover of this book.
Petchy Maligula
Borrowed:
I haven't finished any book from my last week's mailbox but there's another one I've borrowed. This is CSI: Sin City by Max Allan Collins. Yes, you're absolutely right! This novel is based on the hit TV series CSI (Crime Scene Investigation).

On My Wishlist (#3)

On My Wishlist is a bookish meme hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where you list all the books you desperately want but haven't actually bought yet.
So, here's what I've on my wishlist today:
The Mayan Prophecy. Steve Alten Instructions for a Broken Heart
The Mayan Prophecy by Steve Alten
Released: March 2011
From Amazon:
"For thirty-two years, archaeologist Julius Gabriel investigated the Mayan calendar, a 2,500-year-old enigma that predicts the Apocalypse. His research led him to believe that ancient constructions like the Great Pyramid, Stonehenge, Angkor Wat, and Chichen Itza, were all built as part of a primeval fail-safe system, that might save humanity from total annihilation. But now Julius is dead, and his theories have perished with him, discredited and ridiculed. With the help of Dominique, a part-Mayan psychiatric intern, Julius' son, Michael, breaks out of an insane asylum in Miami, where he has been illegally imprisoned. Together they flee to the Yucatan Peninsula, where Michael believes he can find the evidence he needs to prove his father's theory, and to convince the world of the fast-approaching global catastrophe. In Mexico, at the autumn equinox, a serpent's shadow appears over the northern face of the Temple of Kukulcan, as it has done for a thousand years. But this time is different - it is the beginning of the end..."
I saw a teaser from this book on Jules's Blog, and I liked it so much that I added the book on my wishlist.

Check out Steve Alten's website. It's so cool!

Expected Release: May 2011
Goodreads Summary:
"Three days before her drama club's trip to Italy, Jessa Gardner discovers her boyfriend in the costume barn with another girl. Jessa is left with a care package from her best friend titled "Top Twenty Reasons He's a Slimy Jerk Bastard," instructing her to do one un-Jessa-like thing each day of the trip. At turns hilarious and heartwrenching, Instructions for a Broken Heart paints a magical Italy in which Jessa learns she must figure out life-and romance-for herself.
Praise for Songs For A Teenage Nomad:
"A beautiful, lyrical read-I loved every last word of it!"
-Alyson Noël, New York Times bestselling author"

Follow Friday #38

Happy Follow Friday!
Honestly , I'm not really happy. My Friday isn't going very well.
I'm currently reading seven books and I think I should prioritize which ones to finish first. This is the first time I'm freaking out reading multiple books.
I have also received a few book recommendations from my Goodreads friends. I need to check out those books too. I'll add them in TBR if I liked their review or even the book cover.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee where book lovers make new friends and find new blogs. So sign up for Follow Friday on this Link and start following.

This Week's Question:

Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100FactsAboutMe, give us five book related silly facts about you.

My Answer:
  1. I have a silly habit of giving nicknames to my things and people after some book title or character. I nicknamed my cell phone 'Moby Dick,' for example.
  2. I've never really bought a single book. All the books I've read and reviewed, so far, are borrowed ones. Now I come to think I should go out and buy at least one.
  3. I hate to read a book review beforehand. I don't like to spoil the fun.
  4. I like the smell of old books.
  5. I usually add books in my Wishlist just because I like their book covers, and having no idea if I'll ever read them.

    This Week's Question:
If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?

    My Answer:
    Well, let me think...
How about the Harry Potter series? Who doesn't want a bit (in this case more than a bit) of magic in life?
